Hey, Don’t Be That Girl! 21-Day Devotional

Today I am sharing a couple of lessons from my book, Hey, Don’t Be That Girl! 21-Day Devotional. Start or end your day with the Word of God. After you have spent hours soaking in what the world has to offer, take time to meditate on what God’s Word has to offer. 

1. Protect what God has placed within you. Treat it as a precious gift. Fill your mind with good things. What you put into yourself is what will come out in a crisis.

Scripture: Philippians 4:8 (ESV)
Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Be watchful. Study your surroundings.  Everyone wants the good life; however, not many people want to do what it takes to get it. You cannot be like everybody else. You cannot compare yourself to anyone else, except Jesus. If you want something you have never had; you have to do something you have never done. Develop the gift of patience.

Galatians 5:22: But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.

•  Remember: “Patience is the weapon which forces deception to reveal itself.”

2. Finally, I want to leave you with words of encouragement as the Apostle Paul spoke to his young protégé, Timothy.

Scripture: 2 Timothy 1 (NCV):  God sent me to tell about the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus. Grace, mercy, and peace to you from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

God saved us and made us his holy people. That was not because of anything we did ourselves but because of God’s purpose and grace. That grace was given to us through Christ Jesus before time began, but it is now shown to us by the coming of our Savior Christ Jesus.  Follow the pattern of true teachings that you heard from me in faith and love, which are in Christ Jesus. Protect the truth that you were given; protect it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

• Remember: You have a long road ahead, but even after death your spirit will live on somewhere throughout eternity. Be sure that you know where you will be spending eternity.
